[-] Billy Goes Indie

Virtual India is a research project by Microsoft Research India, in collaboration with the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology, powered by Microsoft Virtual Earth technology .A multilingual map on India.Mera Bharat Mahan Billy dude done a good job.Business at the speed of Indian streets?.They currently have fairly limited data -- 1:1M India-wide data as well as 1:8000 Bangalore city data. The site can be viewed in English,Hindi,Kannada,Tamil. The language on map is available on Kannada .Minister Maaran made his success in making Tamilian map on net.Even though the underlying technology can scale very well, the current site is fairly small and implemented on 3 servers (yup the site is too slow for me)-- and can easily get swamped if too many people try to use the system. They have not yet enabled the multi-lingual soft keyboard or the ability to *add* public pushpins. They have street-level maps only of Bangalore (you can zoom down to Bangalore and view the street map of Bangalore in multiple languages). This is a research prototype and the company isworking closely with the Survey of India on this project. With Virtual India you can add and edit places that are seen by all VI users.View maps of India in English,Kannada,Hindi,Tamil. When will it be in Malayalm??Hey Google do u hear??More here
